RMNP - East Portal

We just got back from backpacking in RMNP. Lucked out, no rain! We were originally going to go to Fern Lake (4miles one way) but they still had A LOT of snow so we opted for something at a lower elevation.

Ended up at East Portal(2 miles one way) which is just south of the main entrance. Followed a stream most of the hike, didn't see anyone one else the whole time. Very private / secluded, streams everywhere.

We met up with Joan and Chalie, they came earlier in the day to get some fishing in

they made yummy sorrel pesto for dinner. Steph and I brought fancy cheese and smoked salmon for "happy hour"

almost back to the cars. We were motivated to get back into town for donuts @ Donut Haus. They have the best(and typically sell out)!
